Sustainable Bubble Tea Project by @tangaroablue x @kinoicollection

KINOI team is proud to team up with not-for-profit Tangaroa Blue to develop educational resources in English, Chinese and Vietnamese that aim to reduce bubble tea litter and promote reusables.

This initiative also prepares and transitions Victorians for the single-use plastic ban starting today February 1 2023.

Sustainable Bubble Tea initiative began due to the litter data found in Victoria stormwater drains collected through the Tangaroa Blue’s Let’s Strain the Drain project over the past 2 years.

Sadly, eight local government areas across Melbourne recorded significant quantities in bubble tea litter, including City of Melbourne, Maribyrnong and Greater Dandenong areas.

This highlighted the need to engage with this stakeholder group, the bubble tea industry.

Isabelle (known as Issy), founder of KINOI, an innovative reusable bubble tea cup business, provided invaluable knowledge of the typical bubble tea customer base, as well as experience with introducing reusable products to the industry.

There are TWO PHASES to Sustainable Bubble Tea:

1) educational materials on disposing bubble tea waste the correct way, & reduce litter/pollution

2) promotional reusable bubble tea cup packs by @kinoicollection woo - stay tune to hear how you can win a KINOI bubble tea pack!

Tangaroa Blue team will continue to audit stormwater drains located near bubble tea stores to determine the success of this source reduction plan.
